“You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4
You have to admit that this is pretty amazing. We’re not just talking about peace here. We’re talking about perfect peace. Wait. Is Isaiah saying that perfect peace can be ours? PERFECT peace? Yes. Apparently perfect peace is ours for the taking. All we have to do is keep our minds fixed on God, and place all your trust in Him. That’s it.
The truth of the matter is that, in this life, we will face hardships. There will be times when we are angry, frustrated, sad, or even depressed. There may be times when we have needs we don’t know how to meet, or broken things we don’t know how to fix. Yet, even during these times, we can have peace. Couldn’t we just stop right there and live happily ever after? But God takes it a bit further. Not only can we have peace in any circumstance, but perfect peace – peace that is excellent and complete in every way.
A prayer:
“Lord, right here today, please keep us in perfect peace as we endeavor to keep our hearts and minds fixed upon You. Help us to place all our trust in You, recognizing that You are our Lord and God – an everlasting Rock.”
