“In my distress I called to the Lord, and he answered me.” Psalm 120:1
This is an awesome testimony. I was hurting. I was struggling. I was having a hard time. I was afraid. I was in distress. Yet, I did something. I didn’t place my confidence in myself or in those around me. I called on the Lord. I cried out to Him. I called His name. I asked Him for assistance. And you know what? He answered me! The Creator of the universe – the King of Kings and Lord of Lords – answered me.
Imagine this. Imagine it’s late at night. Maybe around 11:00 p.m. I’m on my way home from an event, and I get a flat tire. In my distress, I pick up the phone and dial the White House. I ask to speak to the President of the United States. He takes my call, I tell Him of my dilemma, and he jumps in Air Force One, flies to Tennessee, changes my tire, and then flies back to Washington. That’s ludicrous. Never would he even take my call, much less come to my aid. He’s the President. He doesn’t even know I’m alive.
Yet, the God of the Bible does. And not only that, but when I call Him in my distress, He takes the call. He answers me. He comes to my aid. That is the greatest miracle in the world – that the Creator of the world chooses to have an intimate relationship with me. And if you are His child, you can expect the same. Isn’t that incredible?
